(Cucurbita moschata); Hand-pollinated; Minimum 20 seeds

Heralded in Amy Goldman's The Compleat Squash as "unquestionably the sweetest moschata", seeds for this unassuming variety are difficult to source. We obtained ours through the Seed Savers Exchange network from a fellow Michigander. The variety came to the States with Ed Nute who collected seed from a Saint Petersburg flower market in 1993.

St. Petersburg's relatively short vines are conducive to smaller gardens. It is one of the later maturing varieties on our Michigan homestead requiring 110ish days. Fruits averaged 18 pounds. The rich orange flesh remains moist when baked and some may prefer it pureed for soups.
