(Phaseolus vulgaris); Heirloom; aka Treaty Bean; a Pennsylvania Collection variety; Pole bean; Dry bean; Minimum 20 seeds
The numerous pinky-purple blossoms adorning these medium length vines yield slender pods that mature to a beautiful purple holding shiny blue shellies that dry to a stunning purple-black. Stewarded by Quaker farmers along Pennsylvania's Delaware River, Blue Shackamaxon is a pre-1800 dry bean. The variety is named for the Lenape fishing community that was in the now Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia who grew these beans. Pretty and productive!
