Batumi Hashuli Bean
(Phaseolus vulgaris); Pole bean; Dry; Minimum 20 seeds
Our original seed stock was sourced from fellow seed enthusiast Karen Golden of Michigan Heirlooms who received hers from Botanical Explorer Joe Simcox. Purchased in a market in Tbilisi, the farmer told Joe the beans were named for the Georgian village of Hashuli. The large plump dry beans are delicious pantry staples. Vigorous vines easily top an 8 foot trellis. I must admit the chubby uniqueness of these beans was a factor in my growing them - oops did my bean addiction just reveal itself? Good thing they make a delicious baked bean!
