Canadian Wild Goose Bean
(Phaseolus vulgaris); Heirloom; Bush bean with runners; Dry bean; Minimum 30 seeds
A prolific Acadian heirloom, this bush variety does send out runners that twine on neighbors if allowed. Short, flattish pods develop a pleasing purple mottling and hold 5-6 small beans each. The sweet, flavorful beans with their cute gray speckles are great in soups or as baked beans. A cautionary note, when exceptionally dry, the thin-shelled pods are known to spring apart flinging beans hither and yon.
