Deseronto Potato Bean
These were popular. Please check back in the fall.
(Phaseolus vulgaris); Heirloom; Bush bean with runners; Dry bean; Minimum 20 seeds
A rare and cherished Mohawk heirloom originally from the Tyendinaga Reservation in Ontario, these flavorful dry beans are enjoyed mashed like potatoes or as a thickener for soups. There is a bit of discrepancy on growth habit for this variety and from our experience, it is productive grown as a bush bean with some support for its vigorous runners. Pods are short and fat, holding on average 5-6 beans.
