A modern soft red winter wheat named for Hillsdale, Michigan, a milling center since 1837, location to one of the state's early grist mills.
Hillsdale's plants can reach 3 feet (1 meter) with large heads. Nice sized kernels have good milling and baking properties
Susceptible to Hessian Fly.
Moderate field resistance in Michigan to leaf rust.
