Italica Ooba Upland Rice seeds

(Oryza sativa); Awnless;

Italica Ooba is a Polish cultivar developed prior to the 1960s. Awnless heads produce medium grained kernels. Our original stock is from Indiana seedsman John Sherck who says this of Italica Ooba:

"The plants reached 3 foot in height and had minimal issues with lodging. Flowering started 53 days after transplanting and harvest was completed 94 days after transplanting in late August. This makes Italica Ooba a early maturing variety with a yield of 7 pounds of paddy per 100 square foot (approx. 100 plants).
Good but mild flavor and made great non-sticky rice after polishing. Would be great for Spanish Rice and Fried Rice."

IMPORTANT NOTE: Keep in mind, rice seed is hulled. Rice is planted in its hull but after harvest, that hull must be removed before eating. De-hulling rice is not easily achieved by hand, requiring mechanical assistance such as the Brill De-huller or an electric de-huller.
