(Phaseolus vulgaris) Heirloom; an Illinois Collection variety; Bush bean with runners; Minimum 20 seeds
I love a variety with a story and Kickapoo's story is inspiring. During the particularly difficult Illinois winter of 1830-1831, Livingston County resident Valentine Darnell was gifted seeds of this bean by a Kickapoo elder. Cherished, the beans and their story have been grown and passed down through generations of the Darnall family. Kickapoo beans entered the seed saving community in 2010 and Marty Travis, Darnall's 4th-great-grandson continues the family tradition on his farm near Fairbury.
