Gold Nugget Bush Squash
(Cucurbita maxima); Heirloom; a 1966 All-America Selection winner; Buttercup type; Space-saving bush; Hand-pollinated; Minimum 15 seeds
Want the yummy goodness of squash throughout the winter but don't have space for vining plants? Gold Nugget is for you! Developed by North Dakota State University as an alternative for sweet potatoes in northern gardens, its upright plants require about a 3-foot diameter circle of growing space to produce an average of 5 fruits per plant. The 1-3 pound squashes are orange-fleshed with small seed cavities and store well when properly cured. A sweet favorite baked - alone or stuffed.
