(Vigna unguiculata spp sesquipedalis); Pole habit; Snap bean; Minimum 20 seeds
Vigorous vines that easily reach 10' become laden with their characteristic light green, long pods that while not reaching an actual yard length, average 24-38 inches. When young, the fresh beans are wonderfully flavorful, especially when lightly fried. Common to cowpeas, Taiwan Black's vines have the extrafloral nectaries that attract predatory wasps and ants which are an advantageous boon to its neighboring plants. Advantageous to us as growers is that cowpea's leaves are also edible offering another option for a nutritious harvest.
