This dwarf bush variety hails from Quebec's Beauce territory. Its long pencil-like green pods develop purple stripes and are ready for fresh eating at the 45 day mark. While it is a tasty snap variety, I grow it for its large meaty dry seeds that excel in baked bean recipes. Compact plants are well suited for close spacing. Direct seeded the first week of June, all pods were dried by the second week of September.
It is believed that the beans now known as Thibodeau du Comté Beauce beans originate with the St. Lawrence Iroquoian Nation.
