(Oryza sativa); Upland variety; Awnless;
Zerawchanica is an Eastern European upland rice variety believed to have Polish ancestry. Robust plants tiller productively, reaching a height over three feet. Comparable in maturity to Duborskian, awnless short grain brown rice kernals are harvested at the 100-110 day mark.
Zerawchanica performs well for us in southeast Michigan, thriving with little attention.
According to John Sherck of Sherk Seeds, Zerawchanica cooks up fragrantly with a very creamy texture and great flavor.
This variety will not be available until the Fall of 2021.
