(Hordeum vulgare); 2-row; Heritage; Landrace; Facultative - spring planted

Sardinian Barley is a facultative grain. This line is our spring planted strain. Planting in the fall? Consider our Fall Planted Sardinian Barley.

I love how Sardinian Barley looks in the garden as it ripens.   I find that it gets included in 'state of the garden' photographs.  It has been very productive and will be one of the first I will try malting.   As I harvest all our grains manually and am careful about breaking heads from stems, I do not know how this variety would behave with a modern combine.

Please use the drop-down menu to select between packets options, minimum:

a) 50 hand selected seeds
b) 7 grams (quarter ounce
c) 28 grams (one ounce)

2018 data

Important note: our original source (John Sherck) believed this barley to be “S’ orgiu sardu” however, we have since learned that is not the case. The seed stock does come from Sardinia but is a landrace.
