(Triticum aestivum); Heritage; Soft White Winter; Apically awnletted; a Michigan Connection variety; Fall-planted

This soft white winter wheat bears the name Augusta in honor of the Michigan town that was a milling center since 1852, home to one of the earliest grist mills in Michigan. Developed in 1979 by Michigan State researchers in cooperation with the USDA, Augusta was released because of its field resistance to powdery mildew and leaf rust.

Semi-dwarf in stature, Augusta demonstrates broad adaptation with excellent agronomic performance. It excels in its milling and baking qualities.
