This dwarf variety is easily threshed by hand; its plump kernels release relatively easily from their hulls with a bit of rubbing. The protein content is reported to be 16% with a 3.5-3.8% lysine content. Karan 163 is a multigenerational line grown on our southeast Michigan homestead.
