Poltavka is a Ukrainian landrace collected from Dnipropetrovska oblast, and donated to the USDA in 1915 by Robert Regel of the Bureau of Applied Botany in St. Petersburg. Our original seed stock for Poltavka comes from a fellow grain enthusiast in Michigan's Thumb region. Strong of straw, plants exhibit excellent winter hardiness. Long awned spikes are easily threshed by hand.
This is the fall-planted line of Poltavka.
WOW! Poltavka impresses!
