(Triticum aestivum); Heritage; Awned; Fall-planted
Released in 1948, this Czechoslovakian variety is my most beautiful "surprise" this season. It did really well last year, so, I was hoping it would be a strong producer this season too. Viglasska's large non-shattering heads are awned which seems to deter the birds. Its straw resists lodging and breakage.
