Garden Patrol

Scott H.

Usually we have a pair or two of our American Buff Ducks who slip into the gardens to enjoy eating the slugs and other tasty bugs. This past week, one of our Narragansett turkeys has hatched about 10 or so chicks.  Unlike our other mamas, it seems our turkeys prefer to nest in the yard on their own - we never did find hers.... clever birds.

She's decided to move the family inside the fence of the grain garden.   As I've been cutting grain, she brings the family into the area to eat what I've dropped during handling.   Works for all of us!

It is extremely challenging to photograph her with all the little ones...
