Awned Wheat
Historically, the awns or "beards" of wheat offer spikes protection from critters. Sparrows and starlings first raid our awnless/beardless wheats. If you have bird issues, (or just want one less thing to worry about,) consider focusing your plantings on cultivars from this collection.
