(Triticum polonicum); Spring wheat; a variety from The Kusa Seed Society Collection
Large heads of long, graceful grain bracts become plump with narrow, long kernals and distinguish this Portuguese landrace that pre-dates the industrial revolution. Milagre is also known for its height. Its hollow stems, often reaching 7 feet, reportedly were once used as drinking straws. Broad droopy leaves contribute to Milagre's ornamental appeal. Consider preventative support against lodging.
