Besbar's awnletted spikes are dense and erect with kernels that are light blue when de-hulled. Straw is stiff with some lodging resistance. Developed in Massachusetts in the early 1960s, Besbar is winter hardy, resistant to stripe, tolerant to scald and moderately susceptible to loose smut. Mid-season maturity.
