An awned landrace barley collected in Jeollabuk-do, South Korea and donated to the National Small Grain Collection in 1930, Tonsaru's hull-less kernels have an 11% protein content with a beta glucan content of 4.5%. Classified as a facultative cultivar, this line is cultivated as a fall-planted winter grain.
