Threshed kernels of hard red winter wheat cultivar 'Mitchikof' ready for milling, whole-grain enjoyment, or planting

(Triticum aestivum); Heritage - Centennial; Hard Red Winter; Awnless; an Indiana Connection variety; Fall-planted; Minimum 25 seeds

Michikof is an awnless hard red winter cultivar developed in 1912 at the Indiana Agricultural Experiment Station. Its parental lines are Michigan Amber and Kharkov. This line originates from a 1915 selection of the original cross strain. Popular as a bread wheat in Indiana for its winter hardiness and high test weight kernels, Michikof was grown on over 50,000 acres in 1924. When first available, there was some resistance to the cultivar as the millers were accustomed to milling soft wheats. We are proud to offer this heritage wheat in effort to re-introduce its growth in the region.
