(Triticum monococcum); Hulled; Awned; Facultative - fall-planted; Minimum 50 seeds
Although called "spelt", this is really an einkorn. We first grew this line as a spring planted grain and after reading that it could be facultative, we started a winter line. We are leaning toward a preference for fall-planted grains as the spring can be very busy and challenging weather-wise for us.
Graceful, long, slender awned spikes adorn tall tillers. This spelt is very productive in our gardens, tillering profusely for a generous yield. Tolerates weed pressure well.
Keep kernels in hulls when planting to assist in germination.
