Hartman's Yellow Gooseberry Tomato

I love seed stories, especially those with a local connection. Golden, sweet cherries, Hartman's Gooseberry Tomatoes are connected regionally and perhaps personallly. This variety originates in the early 1800s with an 1865 feature in Fearing Burr's The field and garden vegetables of America. It was reintroduced to more modern gardens by the J. M. Hartman and Daughters Seed Company of Indianapolis, Indiana. Since both our families have Hoosier roots, it's neat to suppose that these lovelies appeared long ago in the gardens of our relatives. And besides the whole "and Daughters" aspect is pretty awesome as well!
