(Phaseolus vulgaris); a Slow Food Ark of Taste variety; Pole bean; Dry bean; Minimum 20 seeds
A culinary treasure with EU Protected Geographical Indication status, this heritage Italian pole bean with its white flavorful tender skinned dry beans is known throughout its native Tuscany as Sorana; grown outside its traditional region it is Pescia after the river that traverses the area's provincial bean fields. Productive vines are very, very early for a pole variety and reach 6' on a trellis. Thin-shelled dry pods are prone to shattering if left on the vine too long.
