(Phaseolus vulgaris); aka Lohrey's Old Tasmanian, Natural Salt, Lohrey's Zebra; Heritage - Centennial; Pole bean; Dual use: snap and dry; Minimum 20 seeds
From northwestern Tasmanian, Lohrey's Special is a family heirloom from the Lohrey family grown since the early 1900s. Large flowers mature to long, slightly flattened, stringless pods that yellow with a blush of red-purple as they age. The dry pods shell easily to reveal 5-7 flattened seeds. The "special" in the beans name refers to its natural salty flavor profile.
