Akmolinka belongs to the botanical group commonly known as Poulard wheat, which differs from common bread wheat but is closely related to Durum wheat. A facultative cultivar, this is a fall-planted line. Plants demonstrate good winter hardiness. Cone shaped spikes thresh easily by hand of their hard kernels that are well-suited for whole wheat flour.
