Developed in the Russian Federation, Republic of Tatarstan, Kazanskij 4 is a hexaploid triticale donated to the USDA by the N.I. Vavilov Institute of Plant Industry in the mid-70s. Impressive winter hardy plants have long, awned spikes that thresh easily by hand.
