(Phaseolus vulgaris); an Ohio Connection variety; Pole bean; Minimum 20 seeds
Believed to be from the collection of late Ohio Seedsman Tom Knoche, Ohio Cutshort vines are productive with clusters of plump pods that late into their development are still tender. With a rich beany flavor, Tom's beans are enjoyed young and excel canned. They are a perfect variety for "leather britches" where green stage snapped pods are strung and hung from the rafters to dry for use well into winter, a process so named for the image conjured of leather pants drying on a clothesline. Mature seeds demonstrate the squared ends typical of cutshorts.
