"Six-rowed, rough-awned type, suitable for double cropping with soybeans in Indiana because of its earliness. Ability to tiller and produce good yields even after moderate winter damage. Stems short. Spike generally erect at maturity. Kernels covered with colorless aleurone and long haired rachillas. Moderately resistant to leaf rust. Susceptible to some strains of loose smut, scald, stem rust, and barley yellow dwarf virus."
