(Triticum aestivum); Heritage - Centennial; Hard Red Spring; a variety from The Kusa Seed Society Collection; Spring-planted; Minimum 50 seeds

This hard spring red wheat is a historical variety from Canada. Red Bobs originated from a head found in a field of Bobs, a white wheat, in 1910, by Dr. Seager Wheeler, at Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada. It probably is the result of a natural field hybrid between Bobs and Marquis. Red Bobs was first distributed in 1918.  I find this history so inspiring that a single chosen stem could lead to what the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)  in 1924 wrote of Red Bobs as “A first-class milling and bread-making wheat!” (USDA Bulletin 1183).
