(Phaseolus vulgaris); Heirloom; Pole bean; Dry bean; Minimum 20 seeds

This hearty pole bean is a late eighteenth century heirloom grown by the Miami people of Kekionga (present day Fort Wayne Indiana), as well as by the Potawatomi, the Shawnee and the Delaware. A prolific producer of fleshy 8 inch pods, it easily topped its 8 foot trellis, so strong support is essential. Some people enjoy the pods as a fresh bean. We allowed them to dry down for harvest of their meaty dry beans that are great baked or in soups. A cultural note – due to their fleshy nature, the pods required over an additional week to dry, so allow at least 100 days for dry beans.

Limited quantity - only 1 pack per person. I will only ship one pack and will refund the additional packs. Why the limit? To allow as many growers as possible to enjoy this bean.
