Co-developed in 1959 by Purdue University's Fred Patterson and the USDA, Monon is a Soft Red Winter wheat cultivar. Its lax fusiform spikes are apically awnletted. Strong of straw, it resists lodging. Tillers nicely and tolerates weed pressure.
Monon is a town in northern Indiana known for its railroad. The Monon railroad ran thru Scott's hometown.
