(Triticum aestivum); aka Red Chaff Bearded; Heritage - Centennial; an Indiana Connection cultivar; Soft Red Winter; Awned; Fall-planted; Minimum 25 seeds
Originally obtained by the Indiana Agricultural Experiment Station in July 1913 from C.E. Leighty, Goens is a reliable soft red winter cultivar. It is reportedly a cross between Mediterranean and Gipsy, made by a Mr. Goens (or Goings) in Ohio before 1907. Fusiform spikes held aloft on purplish straw thresh easily by hand of their medium kernels that are of good milling and baking quality. Plants demonstrate good winter hardiness.
Limited quantity - only 1 pack per person. I will only ship one pack and will refund the additional packs. Why the limit? To allow as many growers as possible to enjoy this cultivar.
