(Solanum lycopersicum); a Slow Food Ark of Taste variety; Indeterminate; Beefsteak; Red; Regular leaf; Mid-season; Minimum 25 seeds

Mother Nature sure knew what she was doing with this variety and after experiencing its big, meaty, sweet fruits, it's no wonder the Rotonda Big Tomato is on Slow Food's Ark of Taste. A source of immense pride in Rotonda, the municipality in Italy's Potenza province giving name to this tomato, these gorgeous ribbed fruits excel fresh in a salsa or sauced. Coarsely dice with a dash of olive oil, a spritz of salt, and perhaps fresh shavings of Grana Padano for a refreshing tomato salad - spoon over a crispy grilled bread drizzled with some balsamic and you've got an absolutely divine bruschetta. Roasted and juiced, Rotonda Big Tomato is Scott's favorite soup tomato. This tomato definitely exemplifies our "Love to Eat Love to Grow Grow to Eat" philosophy!

About the picture on the scale (yes, I tared it) - the tomatoes shown are just the ones that fit in the bowl which is just a little shy of half of the day's harvest.
