(Nicotiana tabacum); aka Little Red Tobacco, Small Red Canadian
Here in Michigan, this blooms after our rustica variety. The plants are 2 to 3 feet tall with abundant pink flowers. The seed heads are large and oval.
Our original seed stock came from Quebec as a strain that has been cultivated for over a hundred years, first offered by Montreal's W.M. Ewing & Company in 1807.
In addition to the traditional use of tobacco, the leaves can be used to make home-made bug sprays. They also serve as a plant to trap tomato hornworms.
These seeds are extremely small. We measure out 0.3 cc using a powder scoop which provides greater than 200 seeds.
