(Hordeum vulgare); Heritage; 6-row; Hulled; Awned; Fall-planted
Collected by Poland's Institute of Soil Science Cultivation and donated to the USDA in 1961, Pulawski 6 Row Barley demonstrates good winter hardiness. Its kernels have an 11% protein content with a moderate 4.6% beta glucan content. Beta glucan is the soluble dietary fiber of barley with suggested cholesterol-lowering benefits.
Although this cultivar lodged in 2021 due to extreme heavy rainfall and high winds, the tiller development was so robust, giving excellent yields, I will grow again with increased spacing.
